ART VISTAS: Celebrating a Century of Alumni from The Department of Art showcases a diversity of artistic expressions emerging from the Department of Art since 1924 when its first graduated, Alma W. Thomas led an impressive roster of alumni that includes artworks by James A. Porter, Elizabeth Catlett, Delilah Pierce, Earl Hooks, Percy Ricks, and David C. Driskell, among others. Drawing from Howard University Gallery of Art’s collection, the exhibition pays homage to the Department of Art's pedagogical philosophy, its professors, and its distinct curriculum that includes styles such as landscape, portrait, abstract expressionism, modernism, social realism, and color abstraction
