Professor Larry Cook selected as a 2024 Gordon Parks Fellow
We are excited to announce our 2024 Gordon Parks Foundation Art Fellows and Genevieve Young Fellow in Writing. Art Fellowships are awarded to Larry W. Cook, artist and associate professor at Howard University in Washington, D.C., and Tonika Lewis Johnson, a Chicago-based photographer and social justice artist. The Genevieve Young Writing Fellowship is awarded to D. Watkins, an award-winning author based in Baltimore.
Since 2017, the Fellowship program has championed individuals who share the Foundation’s dedication to advancing Parks’s vision for social change through the arts and humanities. Each recipient receives $25,000 to support new or ongoing projects that explore themes of representation and social justice, and are in dialogue with Gordon Parks’s work. Each project will culminate in an exhibition at the Gordon Parks Foundation Gallery in Pleasantville, New York. This year's Fellowship in Writing is awarded in partnership with Howard University.
The 2024 Gordon Parks Foundation Fellows will be celebrated at the annual Gordon Parks Foundation Awards Dinner on May 21, 2024 in New York City. Visit our website for more information.
