Department of Art
The Department of Art offers exemplary instruction in the practice, history, and criticism of the visual arts and design. We develop skilled and knowledgeable graduates who are prepared to compete for professional positions and engage in entrepreneurial endeavors as artists, designers, fashion merchandisers, interior designers, and art historians. We have a unique advantage and responsibility to reflect, affirm, and perpetuate the visual expression of the African American and African Diaspora experience.
My experience in Howard taught me early on how to think critically about the work I create. I was able to explore and experiment with my work and was continually encouraged throughout my process of making.”
