Kelly Tisdale-Sloan, Education Mentor, was born in Washington, D.C., and raised in Prince George’s County, Maryland. She began her academic journey at Howard University, where she studied Early Childhood Education as an undergraduate and was a proud member of the Showtime Marching Band from 2004 to 2006. She later earned her Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education from Ashford University and went on to complete a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies from Howard University.
With over 15 years of experience in early childhood education, Kelly has dedicated her career to supporting the growth and development of young learners and educators alike. She has served in various leadership roles, including classroom teacher, instructional coach, education manager, and childcare center director. Her expertise lies in curriculum development, teacher mentorship, and implementing best practices to enhance classroom environments. Kelly is also passionate about family engagement and ensuring that children receive high-quality, developmentally appropriate education.
In 2019, Kelly returned to her Showtime roots as an Auxiliary Assistant for the Howard University Showtime Marching Band. In this role, she provides leadership, mentorship, and choreography support to the auxiliary units, ensuring that Showtime’s legacy of excellence continues to thrive. Providing guidance and leadership to Showtime, she is also an honorary member of the Eta Delta Chapter of Tau Beta Sigma National Honorary Band Sorority, Incorporated, an organization dedicated to serving college and university bands. Her experience in both education and performing arts allows her to bring a unique blend of structure, creativity, and leadership to her work.
Kelly is deeply committed to both the field of education and the performing arts, continuously striving to inspire the next generation of educators, students, and performers.
