Steven Smith is a native Washingtonian who is a passionate and dedicated music educator with a bachelor's degree in music from Wilberforce University. With a lifelong love for music, he possesses a strong foundation in instrumental music, specifically in Brasswind instrumental instruction. Over the course of his music career, he’s served as the assistant band director at Eastern High School here in DC for 13 years, 1 year at Trotwood-Madison High School in Trotwood, Ohio, and 2 years at Wilberforce University establishing the "Hounds of Sound" marching band program from the ground up. 

Currently serving as the assistant band director/band teaching assistant here at Howard University, he looks forward to bringing his skills and musical expertise to the Office of Choirs and Bands to develop and grow the current program and support the director's vision.
