Howard University's Chadwick A. Boseman College of Fine Arts Department of Theatre Arts will become a hub of the Black dramatic narrative intelligence, a haven for its legacy; and a preeminent training ground for its aesthetic and cultural activism.

Mission Statement

Howard University's Department of Theatre Arts advances the study, practice, and expression of the African diasporic experience through research, experimentation, production, performance, and the education of emerging professionals. Through this work, we nurture holistic, multi-hyphenate, collaborative, and interdisciplinary dramatic arts creatives prepared to pioneer and lead aesthetic and cultural activism on the national and global stage.
