Howard University has discontinued its offering of the Bachelor of Arts degree in Art History as of June 30, 2021. The University continues to offer Art History courses to support:

The remaining Art History degree candidates (majors and minors) to complete their degrees by 2025;
The Department of Art's Bachelor of Fine Arts and Master of Fine Arts degree programs; and,
Divisional Humanities offerings to the rest of the University.

Temporary Closure of Lulu Vere Childers Hall (June 29–August 7, 2026)

As part of Howard University's ongoing commitment to maintaining and enhancing campus facilities, Lulu Vere Childers Hall, home of the Chadwick A. Boseman College of Fine Arts, will be temporarily closed from June 29 through August 7, 2026, to accommodate a major HVAC infrastructure modernization project. Facilities Management will replace critical building systems, including chillers, chilled water pumps, the cooling tower, and associated air-handling units. Due to the scope of the work and related safety requirements, access to Childers Hall and adjacent parking areas will be restricted throughout the project period.
